Climate Change

Climate change is a global phenomenon of climate change, which is characterized by changes in the planet’s normal climate (in terms of temperature, precipitation, and wind), particularly due to human activities.  Due to imbalances in the Earth’s climate, the stability of the planet’s ecosystem, as well as the future of humanity and the stability of the global economy, are threatened.

      What are the causes of climate change?

      The mechanics of the Earth’s climate system are simple.  When the energy from the Sun is reflected from the Earth and returns to space (mostly through clouds and snow) or when the Earth’s atmosphere releases energy, the planet cools down.  When the Earth absorbs energy from the Sun or when atmospheric gases prevent heat from the Earth from entering the space (the greenhouse effect), the planet heats up.  Various natural and human factors can affect the Earth’s climate system.

      Natural causes of climate change

      As we all know, the Earth went through hot and cold phases in the past and long before humans came into existence.  The forces contributing to climate change include the intensity of the sun, volcanic eruptions and natural changes in greenhouse gas concentrations.  However, records suggest that current global warming, particularly warming since the mid-20th century, is occurring more rapidly than before and cannot be explained only by natural causes.  According to NASA, “These natural causes are still in practice today, but their effects are too weak or too slow to explain the rapid warming observed in recent decades”.

      Anthropogenic causes of climate change

      Humans, especially the greenhouse gas emissions generated by us, are the main cause of rapid climate change on Earth.  Greenhouse gases play an important role in keeping the planet warm enough to live.  But in the last few decades, the amount of these gases in our atmosphere has exploded.  According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide have “reached unprecedented levels” for at least 800,000 years.  In fact, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which is the main contributor to climate change on the planet, has increased by 40% since pre-industrial times.

      The main source of man-made emissions is the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas to generate electricity, heat, and transportation.  The second important source is deforestation, which releases carbon bound in the air.  Deforestation, deforestation, fire and other forms of forest destruction are estimated to contribute up to 20 percent of global carbon emissions.  Other human activities that cause air pollution include the use of fertilizers (the main source of nitrous oxide emissions), animal production (cattle, buffalo, sheep, and goats are the main emitters of methane), and some industrial processes that emit fluorinated gases.  She does.
